OurWestsiderNews.com: 'Touring cat statues stop in Westminster'

Quoting the June 21st article by Ashley Reimers (Meowscarade by Pam Schmidt pictured):

"The Aar River Gallery will welcome some feline friends as the 'Tails of the Painted Cats' passes through historic Westminster.

'Tails of the Painted Cats' is a fundraising event for the Cat Care Society in Lakewood, a nonprofit organization established to improve the quality of life for homeless, injured and abused cats in the Denver metropolitan area.

Currently the litter of eye-catching cat statues is on a two-month tour of the metro area.

'This is our second year doing this fundraiser, and it’s been a lot of fun,' said Suellen Scott, CCS director of development. 'The cats are amazing to look at.'

The larger-than-life cats created by Colorado artists will be on display 608 p.m. Friday, June 29, during a wine-and-cheese reception in the gallery’s outdoor garden, 3707 W. 73rd Ave. Tickets are $10 [per person donation at the door]."

'10 Cat Charities to Donate to' - Cat Care Society Is #4 on this National List

Quoting from the Petside.com posting by Elizabeth White:

"The problem when it comes to choosing a charity to support is that there are just so many! And sadly, not everyone has the resources to help out each and every single one.

So if you’re looking for a charity, you’re having trouble picking which one you want to donate to, don’t worry. Petside has compiled a list of 10 cat charities that deserve a look." [Cat Care Society is #4 of ten]

Petside's overview of Cat Care Society:

"4. Cat Care Society (CCS) Homeless, injured, and abused cats of all breeds are given the chance for a better life because of the Cat Care Society (CCS). In 1981 the organization was founded and ever since has provided temporary sanctuary for kittens in need, until a permanent, loving home can be provided for them.

Not only providing a home for abused cats, the CCS also offers educational programs to promote responsible ownership and humane treatment of animals, so that the number of abused cats gets lower and lower until someday it will be zero. CCS aims to be a friend to all cats as they strive to improve the quality of life for all our feline friends."

Denver Post: 'It's a cat thing and an art thing'

"The gala's not until July 28. But bidders are already pouncing online for the 2012 "Tails of the Painted Cats" artworks. An annual fundraiser for the Cat Care Society in Lakewood, this auction and gala lure a lot of well-clawed feline fanciers. The society is a cage-free shelter for homeless and abused cats that also provides outreach and education programs. The fundraiser came about last year as part of the society's 30th anniversary. You can view all the cats and bid on them at BidOnACat.blogspot.com through July 25. The June 29th wine and cheese reception is 6 to 8 p.m. at Westminster's Aar River Gallery."
